Important Aspects of a Healthy Postpartum Recovery

Chiropractic Care – During pregnancy and birth the body has undergone many physiological and hormonal changes in preparation for baby. Now that baby has arrived there are another set of changes as the body returns to its pre-pregnancy state. Chiropractic can help you with many issues that arise as the changes progress through the postpartum period.

High Quality Nutrition – Your body requires plenty of high quality, nutritious food to support the physical demands of breastfeeding in addition to taking care of an infant. Planning and preparing easy to freeze meals can be well worth the time, allowing for healthy meals anytime, even when life with a newborn is extremely busy.  

Adequate Rest – It may be tempting to return to pre-pregnancy activity levels as soon as possible, however your body still needs recovery time. The 4th trimester should be regarded as an extension of pregnancy, involving a certain amount of rest and recovery instead of jumping directly into pre-pregnancy activities.

Time for Mom – Everyone needs a break sometimes, including mom! To give your baby the very best it’s important to take care of yourself also. Plan some regular periods, even if they are short in duration at first, to have some alone time to relax or engage in your favorite activities, while someone else watches your little one.
